Mid September Announcements and Events!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. For those of you at Bug Day: wasn't it just perfect weather? I can't believe how much the girls enjoyed digging for bugs! if I didn't see you there (it got crowded!) I did get a couple extra insect fun badges if you need. I also got a copy of the Bug Whisperer's DVD, parts of which may make it into a Girl Scout meeting down the road. I'll work on getting some of the fantastic pictures up here soon.

On to the information:

#1) For Adults who joined Girl Scouts and can volunteer at meetings, the link with the background check application and password is:
https://www.gswise.org/Volunteers/Volunteer-Applications.aspx While it says you may not get your results back for two weeks, there's a new procedure this year that lets the school organizer give you the green light while your background check is pending. Coincidentally, I just finished my training for school organizer. So that shouldn't be a problem.

#2) I'm going to head to the Wehr center Wednesday to pick up tickets for the Halloween Haunt, if any are still available. They went on sale to the general public today (17th.) It comes HIGHLY recommended. It's October 18th through the 20th, Thursday through Saturday, 6:30-8:00 PM. Tickets are $7.00, parking for that is free. If you would like me to pick up extra tickets for you let me know. I plan on picking up tickets for the Saturday night, but if there's a better night, any of the three would work for our family. http://county.milwaukee.gov/HaloweenHaunts11368.htm

#3) Harvest Fest. Several of you are already planning on going to Harvest Fest at State Fair and suggested we make it a Girl Scout fun trip, which sounds like an awesome idea! It's Sept. 28th-30th. No reservations required. We'd just need to coordinate a date and time!

#4) Jungle Adventure at the Domes. Friday October 12th 6:30. Explore the Rainforest Dome with just your flashlight! This also sounds AMAZING! There'll be a light show at the end of the night, which, if you haven't seen it, is worth the trip in and of itself. You'll get to make a sundae with ingredients from the rainforest, learn about all the things we find and use from the rainforest, and meet rainforest birds too! the other domes will also be open for nighttime exploration. http://county.milwaukee.gov/RainforestNight13118.htm

So, mark your calendars! And let me know where and when to expect you. We'll talk at the meeting too!
