What will we be doing?

Evie Teaches us how to make Caramel DeLite apples, (I hope you have your ingredients ready!)
Thanksgiving Kahoot
Thanksgiving Pictionary
Sharing things we're thankful for
Group discussion--any plans for Thanksgiving, anything fun going on, anyone doing the cleanup challenge so far?
10 minutes to write a letter to nurses working during COVID times
10 minutes to write letters to Greendale Students that get quarantined that principals can deliver to them

If you girls have other ideas we can do them too!

P.S. Remember to do some cleaning the next few weeks!

Don't forget to do some community cleaning when you get a chance:

What:  Starting Monday November 23rd, Green Corners Girl Scouts who spend time cleaning up in the community can log their hours here:  https://forms.gle/hgSDgvKGhQ5iy4Vq8

On December 21st we'll add up all the hours and the troop with the highest per-girl clean up hours average will win $5 Girl Scout Resource Center Gift Cards for EVERY GIRL in the troop!  Those will be good for merchandise in the Girl Scout Resource Center, or for registering for Girl Scout events!  AND, every girl that participates in the clean up will get a "Community Clean Up" fun patch too!

When:  November 23rd - December 21st, 2020.

Why:  To make the world a better place, to get out and get some fresh air, to be a part of a great girl scout community, and to work together to make a difference!

Who:  All Green Corners Girl Scouts  (Even adults!)

Where:  Wherever you think needs a good cleaning.  The beach? A park? Your school? Great!

Log your hours here:

Hi everyone!

We'll try Google Meet for this meeting, so I don't think we'll have to worry about a time limit.

Meeting will be 12:00-1:00 (or later if we are having fun!)

Here's the link:

So far we have Evie leading a cooking session--so have these ingredients ready:

INGREDIENTS
3 Granny Smith apples
1 c. jarred caramel
1 c. coconut flakes
1/2 c. semisweet chocolate chips
3 tbsp. butter

Does anyone else have ideas?  I was thinking we could do an online thanksgiving game--Pictionary? Password? Kahoot?  We could share things we're thankful for.  We could take a short moment and connect on our ideas for future activities (clean up helping, supporting essential or healthcare workers, winter camping).  Does anyone else want to share a thanksgiving craft, or other activity that would be fun?  And are people planning on doing this on phones or on laptops/chromebooks?  If we're doing it on phones, we could even take a mini-field trip and log some time for the area Clean Up Challenge by heading outside and grabbing some litter around our houses.

What other ideas do you have?  Two days to share so we're all ready!

See you Wednesday!

Girl Scouts: If you sold nuts/candy--I have them now!

Hi everyone!

If you sold nuts and candy, and have "Girl Delivered" stuff to pick up--I have them in hand now!  Email or call/text ( 414-595-6668 ) and we can arrange a pickup!

Also:  Anyone else for a Thanksgiving meeting on Wednesday? Any time limitations?  It's looking like Noon-1:30-ish is our target--will that work?

Hi girls!

While we're waiting for the weather to get cold enough for a good winter campout, and we're waiting to get info back from Mrs. Burish on folks that might need pre-winter yard help, should we have some fun?

Would anyone be up for a meeting online next Wednesday as a little Thanksgiving Party?  I think everyone's off of school, so we could even do it during the day?

I'm thinking 1-2 girls could teach us how to cook something, we could do some Thanksgiving games, maybe some trivia (Kahoot anyone?) and just catch back up with each other.  Maybe we take a few minutes and write a thank you note to some essential workers, and if you drop them off at our house we can get them to the appropriate place.  You pick:  nurses? social workers? teachers?

Who's in?  If you are--does morning/afternoon/evening matter, or could you be available anytime that day?

And if you're in and want to teach us how to cook something, reply-all with the recipe and the ingredients needed ASAP--the first 2 will be our chefs (maybe 3 if the first two have short/quick recipes) We'll all cook along with you together, but we need to know what ingredients to have ready!!

Happy Thanksgiving--and I'll tell you that I'm Thankful to be working with a great bunch of girls like you all!

Re: Girl Scouts: Thanksgiving Zoom Party Wednesday?

Make sure to send your ingredient list to everyone so they can be ready on Wednesday.

That's 2 chefs, but Evies is short and easy so we could probably do a third if someone wants to teach a fast and easy recipe. It's ok just to be learners though—no pressure!!!  And if there are lots of people that want to teach a recipe, we'll schedule another meeting like this, maybe for winter break, so you can all get chances!

P.S. Something else to do this month!

Hi again!

A quick add-on to before.  Our Service Area for Girl Scouts--that includes Girl Scouts from Greendale, Greenfield, and Hales Corners--is having a clean up challenge (actually suggested by one of our scouts!) and I think we could win!  Here are the details:

Announcing the Green Corners Clean Up Contest!

In our October Service Area meeting, one of the girl suggestions for a Green Corners event was a Clean Up Challenge.  Over the last month, troops across Green Corners voted and that was the winner, so I'm excited to announce the first ever Green Corners Clean Up Contest!

What:  Starting Monday November 23rd, Green Corners Girl Scouts who spend time cleaning up in the community can log their hours here:  https://forms.gle/hgSDgvKGhQ5iy4Vq8   On December 21st we'll add up all the hours and the troop with the highest per-girl clean up hours average will win $5 Girl Scout Resource Center Gift Cards for EVERY GIRL in the troop!  Those will be good for merchandise in the Girl Scout Resource Center, or for registering for Girl Scout events!  AND, every girl that participates in the clean up will get a "Community Clean Up" fun patch too!

Girl Scouts: Progress? Need help? Questions?

Hi again!

Just following up last meeting again to see how it's going with the tasks the girls assigned themselves, and an update/question about camping.

First:  here were the jobs the girls volunteered for, are they coming along ok?

Jobs:
1)  Eva:  Contact Mrs. Fonte and Burish to see how they found people to help for Clean and Green
2)  Katie:  research local ice skating opportunities and see if they are open during COVID, and are taking appropriate COVID precautions.  (Starter list:  Eble, Wilson Park, Pettit, Pleasant Prairie RecPlex)
3)  Quinn:  Find some good front ine workers to write letters to.
4)  Evie/Ellen:  Will do more jobs around the campout as it approaches.
5)  EVERYONE:  Send any blackout dates that you will be UNAVAILABLE during January/February so we can schedule a campout when everyone can go.

Second:

The girls mentioned possibly going to one of the two scout campgrounds that were being closed and sold this year.  Those camps are being "Sundowned" in December, so if we wanted to hit one of them (Potawatomi Hills, and Winding River) it might have to be in the next couple weeks.

Would a camp out at one of those two camps be possible for a reasonable number of girls the weekend of November 21-22 or 28-29? No commitment yet, just checking options.

Hi everyone,

Here's the quick recap of the ideas the girls came up with, what they decided we should do, and who's in charge of getting things started.

First there were two "business" items:

1)  Nut sale--you have until Friday to enter paper orders in your online account yourself, or until Monday to get the card info to me to enter for you.  Online people can order through Monday as well.

2)  Service Area activities--The Greendale/Greenfield/Hales Corners area asked for input on ideas for things the scouts in that zone could do as a group.  From the list of ideas the girls thought that a zone-wide Litter Clean Up Challenge, drive in movie night, online craft teaching webseries/channel, or online mask fashion show would all be fun things for a large group of scouts to collaborate on together.

Moving on to ideas for just our troop.  Here's our brainstorming, and that'll be followed by the ideas the girls picked out from the brainstorm to actually pursue:

All ideas:
1)  Write thank you letters to frontline workers
2)  Rake yards/help community members that need it like "clean and green" in GMS
3)  Winter campout (possibly connected to another activity like tubing, ice skating, or horseback riding.
4)  Ice skating locally
5)  Doing craft kits together but online (so we each get a kit to do, and we all go online at the same time to do it.)
6)  Cooking challenge or each cooking something to share with the others.

Final three:
1)  Winter Campout--Late January/February so there's snow and ice for us to have fun with.  Include other activity (activities) like ice skating or tubing.
2)  Ice skating locally
3)  Raking yards/community clean up for people that need help
3b)  Write thank you letters to front line workers.

Extra:

Girls asked for the penpal link for seniors again so here it is:

These are some fun ideas!  I look forward to seeing how the girls make them happen!

Girl Scouts: Any last nut orders?

Hi everyone!

If anyone has nut orders that you DIDN'T enter already online, please let me know today so I can get them entered.

(Don't worry about ones people ordered online--those take care of themselves!)
