Girl Scouts: Summer schedule, Registrations needed, and Lost and Found

Hello Girl Scout Families!

I know I've been promising this for a while, but the outline of the summer schedule's at the end of this email. (So you have to read the rest to get to it!  Ha ha!)

First though:
I have a couple cross stitch starts and birdhouses leftover from the campout, and a puppy pillow pet.  If you camper is missing something, let me know!

Second:
I need to get numbers for two of the Girl Scout events as soon as possible:
1)  August 8th, 6:30-8:30 we're doing the Girl Scout Pool Party at Cool Waters again.  One fee covered the whole troop and guests, so there's no additional fee for attending, (Scouts and their families are all invited!)  I do need to know how many scouts we'll have coming though, and how many non-scout family members will be coming.  So if you want to go, please get that information to me as soon as you can!
2)  The September Campout at Silverbrook.   I signed our troop up for this as an overnighter again.  This camp will run September 11-12-13th  We won't be sharing the lodge this year--we'll have it all to ourselves!  I scheduled us into the Sandy Point building for both Friday to Saturday night and Saturday to Sunday Night.  HOWEVER, if too many other troops want to do an overnight, we may get bumped down to a single night in the lodge, I would likely choose Friday-Saturday, but could be talked into Saturday-Sunday if that's what most of the scouts attending would prefer.  (But let's not cross that bridge until we have to.)

Your scout will have the choice of either sleeping over both nights, just staying during the day on Saturday to do the camp activities, or sleeping over either Friday or Saturday night (IF WE GET BOTH NIGHTS).  We'll work out rides and carpools as the event gets closer and I know who can go.  No matter how long your scout stays, the fee will be $21, and will include a camp patch, camp t-shirt, all meals, and activities.  Let me know ASAP if you want your scout to go.  There is a HARD deadline of July 20th for registration.  If you don't tell me before that, then the only way I can get your scout in would be if someone else cancels, and in that case you'd have to hope their T-Shirt sizes match!

There's also a variable cap on the number of scouts that can go based on how many parent volunteers we can get.  As usual, since I help organize this campout, I'll be spending most of the day on Saturday running an activity station, so we'll need at least one extra parent on Saturday to stay with the girls as they go from camp activity to camp activity.  Other than that, only 12 scouts can stay overnight each night + 4 more for each extra parent that we can get to sleep over that night.

So, if your scout wants to attend any part of that camp, let me know now.  Thanks!

Finally:
The schedule!  Enjoy!

Speaking of the supplies sign up genius list, here it is:

And you can still sign up a scout for the campout, or a parent to chaperone for an overnight here:

Thanks!  It should be awesome!

Girl Scouts: Renewed Membership for Next Year

Hello Girl Scouts!

I'm not sure if you got the email from Girl Scouts or not, but as a troop we renewed your scout's membership.  We're using our cookie funds to re-up the girls for next year--don't worry, Girl Scouts does not have your credit card information!  If you want to pay the troop for the membership, you can; make checks out to Troop 8035 .  Membership was $15.

Thanks everyone!  Expect a summer activities schedule out soon!

Girl Scouts: Help!

Hi scouts!

Who wants to have some fun today and totally help the troop!  It's our last meeting of the year and that means fun-fun-fun.

We play some games outside, do some art inside (not messy!) and eat ice cream sundaes (OK, a little messy).

Because of some last minute issues, we need some last minute help though.  Who can join us for some fun-fun-fun?  We can use help the whole meeting, but ESPECIALLY need the help from 4:15-5:00.

Please?

Since there have been questions:

H everyone!

Just to be clear:

1)  ALL current third graders are "bridging" or graduating out of Brownies and into Junior Scouts, and so they should all come tonight..

2)  Only the 4th graders that did the extra work to earn their Bronze Award this year will be getting their Bronze Award tonight.  (Don't worry, there will be great opportunities next year too!)

3)  There is only the one "bridging," tonight, even though there are meetings today and tomorrow.  No Thursday ceremony--everyone comes tonight.

4)  Yes extra family is welcome!

I hope that catches all the questions!

Aleks.

Girl Scouts: P.S. Can anyone stick around to help set up between the meeting and the Bridging?

P.S.  I can use some extra hands setting up for the Bridging ceremony.  Is anyone able to either get there early, or stick around between the meeting and the ceremony to help put up decorations, put up tablecloths, set up the projector, etc?

Thanks!

Aleks

Girl Scouts: Tomorrow is today! (Woah!)

Hello (again!)

Just in case there was any confusion--since I sent that last email after midnight--tomorrow is today!  The bridging ceremony is just where it's always been, today, Wednesday June 10th 6-8PM in the Highland View Gym.

Sorry if I caused any confusion!

Aleks

Girl Scouts: See you tomorrow! Some of you twice!

Hello Scouts!

In case you didn't sign up for a meeting choice yet, here's the link:

And remember, if you're the parent of a 3rd grade scout, or a scout that earned her Bronze Award this year, the Bridging ceremony is at Highland View in the gym at 6:00.  It's a fun event.  (Don't worry 4th graders who didn't finish their Bronze this year--we'll be working on the Bronze Award next year too, so you can bridge AND earn the Award so you'll get double recognitions at the ceremony!  So that'll be cool!)

Finally, keep an eye open for our summer Troop schedule!  In addition to the campout, we have parades to walk in, an Old World Wisconsin to visit, a Renaissance Faire to go to, a pool party to splash at, and beaches to clean up!  This week is super nuts (obviously) so expect the schedule early next week.

Thanks, and see you soon!

Girl Scouts: Need a girl scout or two to say something at the bridging ceremony

Hello families!

This year at the ceremony on Wednesday (6-8PM), we'll have two scouts from each bridging troop (so our 3rd graders) say a little something in front of the crowd.

1 scout will say something about their favorite memory from being a Brownie and
1 scout will say something about what they're still looking forward to doing in Girl Scouts

So, do we have any girls that are brave enough to speak in front of all the parents?  If we get more than 2 I'll check with the other troops and see if we should draw names out of hat to get down to 2, or if it's OK to do more than 2 girl speakers.

Thanks!  See you soon!

Girl Scouts: Coming up fast! Meeting and Bridging!

Hello scouts!

1)  Here's the usual link to pick a June meeting:

As always, make sure Highland View scouts have their choice marked in their agenda!

2)  For current 3rd graders, and for current 4th graders who earned their Bronze Award this year (Scarlett, Sara, Gabby, Aria, Adrhia) don't forget that the bridging event is next Wednesday 6-8PM.  The cakes are ordered, the program is ready, decorations are purchased, awards are in hand, and green sashes are ready!  I look forward to seeing you all there!

If you want to bring something to go along with the cake, I put together a sign up list (surprise!) and here it is:

Have a great weekend!
