Thanks to everyone who marched in the parade today! The girls were great, even in the heat.
I (finally) got some pictures from the camp-out up in the picture gallery at the right so check them out if you want.
There's not a lot of Girl Scout stuff lined up for July. On the 29th there's the Firefly Walk at the Botanical Gardens 6:00 PM-8:00. I've never done that one but I understand it's a lot like the fairy Garden party, which the girls seemed to really enjoy.
I don't know if any of you have seen the Greendale Playground Passport that the library and Ferch's are sponsoring. It's a 'quest' to play at all 11 of Greendale's playgrounds this summer. You can pick up a passport at the Library or at Ferch's downtown greendale location, then visit all 11 playgrounds in Greendale, turn in your passport, to be entered in a drawing for a prize. I thought this might be nice to do with friends too. Starting next week, we'll probably hit them on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting from the top of the list down, around 5:30 if that works for a lot of you?
Here's the list:
Daffodil Park (behind Ferch's)
Jaycee Park (by the end of BroadStreet by the High School)
Lions Park (Edgehill and Eaton ?)
Greendale Community Center (North of Root River on 76th Street, by the Tennis Courts)
Ambruster Site (Montgomery and 68th)
Canterbury School
College Park School
Across from College Park School
Highland View School
St. Alphonsus School
Scout Lake Park
Finally, we have a couple pretty fun sounding August events:
FIRST, the weekend of August 18th and 19th is Bristol Renaissance Faire's Scout-Days, with discounted tickets for scouts and their families. I know Evie loves loves loves it, and it sounds like a lot of other girls would enjoy it too, so if there are any families that can either surely do, or surely NOT do one of those days, let me know know so we can schedule it out.
SECOND, Laura Ingalls Wilder Days are August 4th at old World Wisconsin. Check out the website here:
http://oldworldwisconsin.wisconsinhistory.org/Events/EventDetail/Event2399.aspx
"Come for a day the whole family will enjoy. In addition to activities straight from the pages of the "Little House" books, you can experience draft horse power, see a steam threshing machine and the work done by turn-of-the-20th-century gasoline engines such as grain grinding or corn shelling. Try your hand at making rope or watch our special guests, the SeatWeavers' Guild, as they share the nearly lost art and craft of chair caning and chair seat weaving. Join the look-alike pageant, dressed up as Mary, Laura, Carrie, Grace, Almanzo or naughty Willie and Nellie. You're also welcome to help with the chores and games Laura and her family experienced."
Adults $16; children (5-17) $9 (children under 5 are free); students and senior citizens (65 and over) $14; family (two adults and two or more dependent children 5-17) $43. Fees include an all-day tram transportation pass.
THIRD, We are still signed up to work in the Greendale Community Garden the week ending August 18th. I haven't heard anything from Heidi though, so I don't know exactly what the details are, but just keep in mind I may call on the girls to help weed and water, and maybe even bring home some of the harvest--based on your schedules that week, of course.
I think that's all,
Thanks again--and keep cool!
