End-of-July and Beginning-of-August Announcements!

Hi again!

A few things are going on in the near future that I wanted to stay on top of:

1) Tomorrow is our next playground-passport day. We'll be hitting the Greedale Community Center Playground. It's the one behind the tennis courts off of 76th street south of Grange. 5:30, as usual. If history is a guide, we'll stay until late, so feel free to come by any time!

2) August 4th is the Laura Ingalls Wilder day at Old World Wisconsin:

"Come for a day the whole family will enjoy. In addition to activities straight from the pages of the "Little House" books, you can experience draft horse power, see a steam threshing machine and the work done by turn-of-the-20th-century gasoline engines such as grain grinding or corn shelling. Try your hand at making rope or watch our special guests, the SeatWeavers' Guild, as they share the nearly lost art and craft of chair caning and chair seat weaving. Join the look-alike pageant, dressed up as Mary, Laura, Carrie, Grace, Almanzo or naughty Willie and Nellie. You're also welcome to help with the chores and games Laura and her family experienced"

Ticket Info:
Adults $16; children (5-17) $9 (children under 5 are free); students and senior citizens (65 and over) $14; family (two adults and two or more dependent children 5-17) $43. Fees include an all-day tram transportation pass.

3) (This one's not really a girl scout thing, just something fun for friends.) On August 7th (a Tuesday) we're heading to Six Flags Great America to use the ticket Evie got for a reading event at school. It might be fun if there was a bunch there, so if anyone wants to join us, let me know! We can figure out car pool or ride arrangements too if a girl wants to go but some parents can't.

4) Our Troop gets to tend (and harvest!) the community garden behind the high school from August 9th through the 18th. Are there days and times that people would like to sign up to water/weed/harvest?

5) Keep the Renaissance Faire on your calendar for the 18th of August! We'll meet up at our house at 11:00, and carpool out there and have a day of fun. As always, if there's a girl that wants to go, but parents can't, we can definitely arrange rides! We'll buy tickets when we get there to get the scouting discount. Only one member of the group has to be in "scouting uniform" so I'll wear mine and have us covered. If girls want to wear princess dresses or scouting gear that's a-ok too, but certainly not required!

6) If you haven't registered for next year yet, I can send you a form to fill out, or I can bring registration forms to any event you want to meet at, or you can stop by our house and pick one up too--just let me know when to expect you (423-1224).

I think that's all for now! See you at the Community Center Playground tomorrow!
