Just a really quick update.
First, I put pictures up in the gallery of the girls at the Rennaissance Faire on Scout Day and working on the Greendale Community Garden. Enjoy!
Second, I'm starting work on scheduling for next year. Our first Girl Scout meeting will be the usual time and place: the last Wednesday of the month with school, in Mrs. Bushman's room. I will have a parents (new and old!) meeting the second Wednesday of the school year after school to get folks registered and introduce new parents to the group. (By my calculations that's September 12th.) Unless I hear otherwise, I'll actually have 2 meetings that day, one right after school, and one later in the evening. You don't have to go to both--I just want to make sure as many parents have the chance to go as possible. I'll send home information in the BEE folders the first couple days of school.
I'm also looking at events and fun things to do throughout the year. I'd like to have a tentative schedule of events ready early on. So, if you have ideas, send them over, and we'll work them in!
In September a couple of things are already pretty ready-to-go:
Sept 16th (Sunday) is BUG DAY at Wehr Nature center. That's 1:00, and when we've gone in the past it's been pretty fun. $2.00 per person, $3.00 parking. There'll be a bug zoo, "The Insect Whisperer," insect crafts, and even a chance to EAT BUGS!
The second Thursday of the month, Sept 13th, has a Beach Clean Up at Bay View Park. I thought this would be a fun way to get the girls involved in a service event--ESPECIALLY if we go to Dairy Queen, or someplace fun afterwards. It's from 6:30-8:00 that Thursday evening (after soccer practice!) Here's the website for more information: http://www.bayviewneighborhood.org/clean-ups
That ought to be enough for September, so we'll start looking ahead to October! I know there's a Girl Scout Day at the "How To Train Your Dragon" live extravaganza, so we might put that on the calendar. I'll get in touch with Girl Scouts to get the details!
See you all soon!
Aleks
