Hello scouts!
Just a few quick notes:
1) It only looks like two of us are going to Cider Sunday at the Todd Wehr Nature Center this Sunday. (Link) But it's always more fun with more! While the event runs from Noon to 5:00, expect us to only spend 2.5 hours there, so you could either pick your scout up around 2:30, or we could bring her home around 3:00. It costs $3.00, but as always, the troop will cover the cost if you'd like us to--no questions asked!
"Enjoy the brilliant fall colors during this afternoon of cider, food, live music, and family fun. Make cider with a hand-crank cider press. See apple butter being made over an open fire. Taste 10 delicious varieties of apples. Savor apple desserts, from delicate apple crepes to apple slices covered with rich, gooey caramel. (Small fee.) Enjoy live music.
Let your kids create apple crafts to make-and-take."
2) Meeting date choices are October 15 and 16. The SignUp Genius Page for meetings is here: http://www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C0A4FA5AD22A13-october . The Page to sign up to either bring a snack or help out at a meeting is also up and you can find it here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0a4fa5ad22a13-meeting2 . We really especially need an extra meeting helper at the meetings. So if you can, please sign up to hang out at the meeting and lend a couple of hands--plus the kids love it!
3) October 18th events--I need some more scouts! The Brownie Teambuilding Event sounds amazing from scouts that have gone before, so it should be a lot of fun for any scouts that go. Likewise, the Junior version right afterwards. Finally, it's kind of a troop tradition to do a Halloween event. In the past we've done the Wehr Nature Center Halloween Haunts, but the girls are outgrowing it. The Old World Wisconsin Event on the 18th in the evening is absolutely fantastic. Without a doubt it will be your scout's favorite Halloween event of all time. I've only heard from a couple of you, but I think a big group would make it even more exciting!
