Girl Scouts: 3 More things!

Hi (again!)

3 more quickies:

#1)  Service opportunity!  The Step Up to Better Health fun run is almost here, and there's always need for helpers directing the runners, setting up, cleaning up, etc.  It's 10/21 and volunteer opportunities run from 9:00-12:00.

You can sign up here:

#2)  Glow Ball!  On October 13th, there's a pretty awesome Girl Scout event coming up.  Unfortunately, our family can't go, but it is a family event, so anyone can register themselves and their family to attend.  (Even non-scout relatives can register and go to this one!)   Registration is required, and there's an additional charge for any registrations less than a week before the event.

Here are the details:

Girl Scout Glow Ball
When:  October 13th 6:00-9:00 PM
Where:  Camp Alice Chester
Cost:  $10 Scouts, $5 Adults
Description:  Do you know why glow sticks glow? Learn about chemiluminescence, the science behind the glow and investigate how chemical reactions can emit light. Chat with a Solar System Ambassador and peek through a telescope down at the waterfront. Wander the woods and discover night time animal eyes. Make new friends around the campfire as you sing silly songs and make s'mores. Light it up with glow games like 9 square in the air and glow bowling, enjoy DJ Tim's jams, and indulge in the caramel apple bar.

#3)  Girl Scout Nut Sale is coming up!  Sales begin on October 5th, and every scout family should receive an email from scouts with the links to participate in the online portion.  I also have paper selling materials to distribute if you want that too.  Online info is also available here:  https://www.gswise.org/en/cookies/fall-nut-sale.html  Selling ends on 10/26, so I can have Evie bring the stuff to school for you, or we can figure out a different way to get it to you.  That is also after our first planning and regular meetings so a scout could pick the materials up there.

Since the girls will have a budget to spend for any meetings they plan, anything we sell can help fund their meeting and activity ideas through the year.  Also, since we got them hooked on travel, they could keep saving for the opportunity to travel to more exotic locations as they get older.  (Did you know Girl Scouts owns a Swiss Chalet that troops can visit and stay in????  https://www.girlscouts.org/en/about-girl-scouts/global/world-centers.html  )

That's all for now!  Happy scouting!

Aleks
