Hi everyone,
Tomorrow's (Tuesday 9/11) chance to present to the Greendale Board of Health still needs Girl Scouts. Evie is happy to do it alone, but this is a great opportunity for the girls.
1) It's a chance to show that they're making a difference in the community in front of an actual governmental decision making body. If you can think of a better way to make a girl feel more powerful, influential, and stronger, let me know!
2) Several of the Board of Health Members are on several scholarship committees in Greendale--there's no better time to make a good impression! This is a great chance to get on a good path to saving some of that college $$$.
3) The silver project is supposed to involve 10+ hours of time from each girl participating. Some are getting there, but there won't be many hours easier than this!
So I do hope some more scouts can join in tomorrow. The meeting starts at 6:00, but we'd want to be there 5:15 or so in order for the girls to organize themselves. If your scout can come, please let me know tonight, so that she and Evie can coordinate what kind of presenting they want to do. Please be dressed appropriately to make a presentation to a government body. (Nice clothes please!)
What they're invited to share:
What they're doing.
Why they're doing it--Why is walking good? Why do we want to make it easier to walk in Greendale?
What they've done so far--Community route survey, girl scouts and family walk survey around Scout Lake
Present the large map with spots with needs indicated (repairs, signs, rest stations)
What the next steps are (Talk to village about repairs, and permits or needs for signs and benches, and construction of signs and benches)
All together they're facing 5-10 minutes of time on the agenda, so there's no need to go too in depth on any particular thing.
Thanks so much! See you tomorrow!
Aleks
