Re: Girl Scouts: Upcoming events and activities!

Just a reminder we have PetPalooza tomorrow!  (10-2)

If you're there, we can talk about Gold Projects during quiet times and see if there's anything the troop can do to help out (helping put the team together, fundraise, etc.)

Hi everyone!

There's a lot of great stuff to "spring" into action with coming up!

1)  Since the beach cleanup was pretty rough (rain, snow, AND hail in the first hour alone!) there's another great volunteer activity that would be fun and fits our troop traditions well:  Grant Park's Weed-Out!  This Saturday, May 6th from 9:00-11:30, folks are pulling invasive species out of Grant Park.  We'll meet at the "Tennis Court Parking Lot" which I believe is here:  https://goo.gl/maps/GUWSxCWonvQAvbLq6 .  Let me know if you're coming and I'll bring gloves and tools for you!

Here's the description from Grant Park:  Join the Friends of Grant Park each spring and fall as we work to remove invasive weeds that threaten our park's plant diversity. If you would like to participate, even if only for a portion of the morning,  come prepared to work: we recommend wearing a long sleeve shirt, long pants, socks and sturdy shoes (long pants and socks are good for tick prevention). If you have a pair of sturdy work gloves, bring them along (gloves provided if you don't have a pair).

Afterward, we'll hang out and have lunch at a restaurant TBD, and check in on Gold Award progress.  Have you brainstormed some ideas? Do you have teams (or at least potential teams) prepared? Have you started the planning pages? We can even get started on some of that right there, especially helping put together teams for you!

2)  There are three events our troop typically participates in coming up as well:

Please let me know both whether you can OR can't go to all of these so I can plan accordingly!  (Parents are welcome too, and I think the Grant Park Weed-Out would be fun for everyone!)

A)  PetPalooza March 13th from 10:00-2:00.  We have been making pet toys with kids at PetPalooza for years, so let's keep it running!  As always, there's a budget for lunch for anyoneone helping out, and I'm pretty sure everyone's always had a good time doing it.  We can sign that one off as Girl Scout or Village of Greendale service hours.

B)  School's Out Event June 9th, 3:00-8:00 PM.  We've traditionally done face painting there, and we'll keep that rolling too--make sure to wear clothes you don't mind getting painted!

C)  Greendale Clean and Green May 20th, 9-11:00 AM.  We've done this for the last couple of years, and it's a lot of fun to help clean up right around home here.  As always, we'll grab ice cream or lunch afterward, depending on the mood of the group!

Please let me know both whether you con OR can't go to all of these so I can plan accordingly!  (Parents are welcome too, and I think the Grant Park Weed-Out would be fun for everyone!)
