Hi everyone!
There is a LOT going on, so I'll try to keep this organized, and in roughly chronological order!
#1) Milwaukee Wave Scout Night THIS SATURDAY/SUNDAY! Ok, so it's an evening game, and in the past, for Girl Scout nights they've wanted us to arrive at the stadium about an hour and a half before kick off. I don't have anything official from them yet, but based on the past, let's assume we want to be there around 5:30. What that means is that we'll meet up at our house at 5:00, so we can leave by 5:10. (Michelle: If you're taking Lauren to the stadium, then look for us there around 5:30) (Yvette, if you're just going to the game, then you can meet us at Panther arena at 5:30 too. There'll be some waiting around, BUT since we didn't get to reserve T-Shirt sizes, we really want to be at the front of the line to pick!)
We'll plan to be back at our house on Sunday around 8:45. (Michelle: If you're picking Lauren up at the stadium on Sunday, then we'll be at the front door at 8:00)
Here's who I have signed up currently:
OVERNIGHT:
Megha M.
Lauren P.
Makenzie S.
Evie S
Jesialis P.
Nyela Z.
JUST GAME:
Eva M. (+1)
#2) Cookie Pick Up Sunday 2/18 at 3:30 we're picking up cookies for the troop from Tess Corners Fire Station #3 (S76 W17858 Janesville Rd. Muskego, WI 53150) . Here's who I have signed up to help bring cookies from the drop off to my house: Jeff P. w/ Trailer, JJ P. (Van), Kayla D. (Van), Lisa S. (Car), Rochelle R. (Van), Aleks S. (Van). Is that still good?
Girls orders will be dropped off at my house, and I'll have them for people to pick up Sunday between 6:00-8:00, and then Monday throughout the day. Sign up here to tell me when you'll be picking your order up: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0a4fa5ad22a13-getyour
#3) Cookie Booths There are still a lot of spots open if you want them! Sign up here to get those cookie sales up! http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0a4fa5ad22a13-2018
#4) International Fair OK, I need a bunch of help here. A bunch.
First, our scouts need to get together and research and prepare information to share with other troops at the International Fair on Friday 2/23 6:30-8:30 at Whitnall Middle School. I was thinking of having a get-together on Monday 2/19 or Tuesday 2/20 for the scouts to 1) Reseach Girl Scouting in China, 2) Make a display about China, 3) Take a field trip to the Asian Grocery Store to choose a treat or snack to share, 4) Learn to make these as SWAPS for the girls at the Fair: https://cf.ltkcdn.net/feng-shui/images/std/212546-400x286-fengshuicoins.jpg and 5) Make a Chinese Flag (and maybe Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore flag, as the girls will see, Scouting is COMPLICATED in China!) for the flag ceremony.
Which brings me to: if we had a Girl Scouts in China: Preparation for the International Fair get together during the day, who could do Monday 2/19, and who could do Tuesday 2/20, and who could do either one? Let's say between 12:00-3:00?
Second: Attendance at the International Fair. I have Kendra and Carrie signed up to go so far. They could sure use some friends! I know several of the troops from Highland View are going, and there'll be a LOT of activities from other countries including France, Norway, India, and others from all around the globe! Since every troop is making a SWAP, girls that go will come home with all sorts of cool pins! So please let me know if your scout can join them! This also covers the 2018 World Thinking Day patch for girls that attend or help prepare materials.
Third: Parent at the fair. So, Kathleen has to work, and I'm Vice Chair of the Greendale Education Foundation and have to be at the "Cheers for Education Event" that night. Of the scouts going, can any of the parents stay through the event and be our official Troop Leader for the night? Please?
#5) February Meeting Our February Meeting is Thursday 2/22. While the meeting "officially" starts at 3:30, remember that GMS Students should go there right after school so we can get moving. The doors will be closed after our Highland View Scouts arrive. We had the best meeting of the year in January (certainly our tastiest!) and we'll follow it up with a similar (but healthier!) meeting in February.
Pre-meeting homework: In April, Earth Day is coming up. We're looking for something the girls can go out and do for Earth Day, so if every girl can research local Earth Day vents going on around Greendale and Milwaukee, we'll share those ideas at the meeting and pick something to join in! I know there are all sorts of clean-ups, and fun events going on--let's see what the girls can find!
