Girl Scouts: Renaissance Faire Update--A couple extra tickets, and be ready for the weather!

Hi everyone!

I have 8 people signed up for the Renaissance Faire trip (Ellen, Evie+mom and dad, Lauren, Megha, Lara+mom)  and just got some great news--Mahi's family has graciously given us enough free tickets for everyone who was signed up, plus a couple extra--Thanks JP!

So, first of all--if you were signed up, the cost just dropped from $7.50 per kid/$15.95 per grown up to $0.00 for each.

Was anyone else holding off sending their scout because of the price? (Side note: as I've mentioned before, always let me know if that's the case--don't let admission prices stop you from having your scout join one of our trips.  We sell cookies so everyone can go on all our trips if they want.  I won't ask any questions and won't tell any stories.  Scout's honor.)

If you still want your scout to go, let me know.  Since it's already late, phone or text would be best:  414-595-6668.  Since Lara's mom is helping carpool down there, we even have car space available for a couple more scouts, so you won't have to drive--Thanks Tamam!

We're meeting at our house at 9:00, and coming back there at 6:00.  4256 Teakwood Ct.

***Also:  it may be rainy tomorrow!  If it is, make sure to pack boots, umbrellas and/or raincoats.  The Faire is a rain-or-shine activity.***

We will be eating lunch at the Faire, and they don't let us bring our own food in.  So, please send $5-10 for lunch for your scout if possible.

Thanks, and see you soon!

Girl Scouts: Renaissance Faire Trip Saturday 8/27 and Likely Meeting Dates for 2016-17

Hello everyone!

I hope summer's been good!  Just two quick items to float out there:

1)  Is there anyone else going on the Renaissance Faire Trip Saturday?  I have:
Megha,
Ellen,
Lara,
Lauren, and
Evie

Meet at our house at 9:00AM, with the goal to be home by 6:00PM.

2)  While I can't officially lock in meeting dates at the schools until Park and Rec gets their schedule, in, what I have in as "preferences" for meeting rooms are Wednesdays this year:

Highland View:
9/14, 28
10/5, 12
11/2, 9
12/7, 14
1/4, 11
2/1, 8
3/1, 8
4/5, 12
5/3, 10

College Park:
9/21
10/19
11/16
12/21
1/18
2/15
3/15
4/26
5/17

The school offices said I should know if I get those dates by late next week, assuming P&R gets everything in to them on their usual schedule.

We'll build up an activity schedule soon, and Kelly and I will lock down the Washington DC Trip dates in the next week too.

Keep scouting!

Girl Scouts: Beach Clean Up Thursday!

Hi everyone!

Our August Beach Clean up is tomorrow August 11th!  As usual, it'll be from 6:30-8:00 at Bay View Beach (across from the Marian center in Bay View, on Superior/Lake Dr. just South of Oklahoma)

Bay View Neighborhood Association may or may not be there--so Kathleen and I will bring the clean-up supplies (bags, gloves, etc.)  and the community service patches.  We'll wait in the park area at the top of the hill until a little after 6:30.  If you come by after that, just find us on the beach.

It's a really relaxing time, and I'd recommend it even if we weren't doing it for scouts.

With or without the BVNA we'll head over to Classic Slice Pizza afterwards for a post-cleanup dinner.

Thanks so much everyone, see you soon!

Girl Scouts: P.S. for our (now) 6th grade scouts!

Hi everyone!

If you have a scout going into 6th grade this year, I just wanted to remind you about the chance to check out the Middle School scout troop and see what they're all about.  (See the email from Mrs. Celsor after this.)

Two notes:  1)  You always always always have a home with our troop, if your scout decides that's where she prefers to stay, and
2)  When we do the Washington DC trip next summer, if you've been in our troop to this point, you'll still be welcome even if you've been with the Middle School troop this 6th grade year.

But, I know that as the girls get older, they want to do older scout things and spend time with "the big kids" so I definitely appreciate the offer from the Middle School Troop and think it's a great opportunity for those scouts.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the email from Mrs. Celsor:

Aleks, Just a reminder for your Cadets. Our special meeting on How to lead a Girl Scout meeting is this Wed Aug 10 at 6:30 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in the choir loft. I have not heard from any of the girls in your troop.

Our first planning meeting is scheduled for August 24 at 6:30pm at St. Thomas church as well.

If your girls want to try us for a couple of meetings and decide they don't like our format they can return to your troop, no hard feelings.

Hope to see some of your Scouts

Girl Scouts: Old World Wisconsin

Hi everyone!

Just a last email about Old World Wisconsin.  The plan is still to meet up at our house at 9:00 AM, and to be back at our house at 5:00 PM.

Pack a lunch, and a water bottle, and some sunscreen. If rain is in the forecast, a poncho or rainjacket could be useful too. A small backpack will help the girls carry their own gear.

At the moment, we have more than enough carrying capacity to get everyone there.  But if you're planning on attending please sign up so I know that no one will be rideless on Saturday.

Here's who I'm expecting:

Maya
Ali
Gabby
Megha
Esabella
Samantha
Kendra
Evie

Anyone missing?

Thanks, and see you on Saturday!
