Girl Scouts: Don't forget to work on your boat!

Hi everyone!

Evie is in the basement working on her boat right now, so I figured I'd send out a reminder to everyone else!  The regatta is Wednesday 11/28, at GMS, so you'll want to have your boat painted by Tuesday so it's dry on Wednesday!

If you still want/need a boat kit, let me know and I can get one to your scout Monday at school, or you can swing by our house tonight since I have an extra one.

And bonus note:  remember, even if you're not planning to race a boat, it'd be great if you could join us at the event!  There's always need for helping hands, and a chance to be a good role model for the younger scouts that will be there!

Happy post-Thanksgiving, and see you at school!

Gil Scouts: That's what I call leadership! Also, NOVEMBER 28th!

Hi everyone!

First of all, what a fantastic Girl-Led meeting we had on Thursday!  It's great to see the girls be leaders and proud of it!  The 2018-2019 Girl Scout theme was G.I.R.L: G=Go Getter, I=Innovator, R=Risk Taker, L=Leader.  We might still be working on risk taking, but I'm super proud at our girls' abilities to lead, innovate ,and be go-getters!

We applauded them at the meeting, but we can definitely recognize our meeting leaders again:  Teagan, Katie and Carrie did a great job leading the Pictionary, Kendra and Quinn were fabulous leading the "Thanksgiving Grilled Cheese", and Evie and Ellen were great at organizing and leading the blanket making.  Great job girls!

Remember, the planning meeting where the girls decide what to do, and who's leading what activities are the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 3:00-4:30.  The meeting where we actually do the girls' plans are on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 3:00-5:00.

RAINGUTTER REGATTA NOVEMBER 28th!  6:15-8:00PM

I have a few more boat kits for girls that want to join in!  Let me know if you want one!  They're not hard to put together, depending on how fancy/creative you want to get.  Hopefully a bunch of our girls can make it.

If your scout wants to help, but not make a boat, that's AWESOME too, we can always use the helpers!  50-ish Highland View Girl Scouts are coming, so it'll be a lot of fun no matter how your scout participates.

Just a reminder that our first "Girl Planned" meeting is tomorrow, Wednesday 11/14.  As usual it'll run after school until 5:00 (planning meetings only go until 4:30).

If your scout was at the planning meeting and had put herself in charge of something, that list is below.

Also, if you haven't picked up nut sale stuff from me, I'll bring that to the meeting too.

See you tomorrow!

Girl Scouts: Awesome Planning Girls! (Here's the details, parents!)

Hi everyone,

The girls did a FANTASTIC job today of planning the meeting for next week.  I think they've got the hang of it.  I'll mention a couple details for parents, and follow up with what jobs they assigned themselves for next Wednesday.

1)  The girls divided up supply duties between themselves.  If you buy supplies, feel free to check with me at the meeting and we can write you a troop check to cover the expense.

2)  Some of the supplies are for a cooking/snack project, so please be careful to avoid anything containing nuts or produced in a facility that also processes nuts.

3)  We're anticipating in the neighborhood of 10-11 scouts, so plan accordingly.  The food supplies aren't to create entire individual meals with though, but are for the girls to use to create individual Thanksgiving-style grilled-cheese sandwiches, so you wouldn't need, for example, 12 whole servings of mashed potatoes, just enough for 1-2 spoonfuls per girl to layer onto a sandwich.

Without further ado, here's what the girls came up with.  (Picture of their chart also attached.)

Girl Scouts: Planning meeting Wednesday 11/7 after school until 4:30

Hi everyone,

Just a reminder that tomorrow after school is the girls' meeting to plan our November.  I'll bring a snack, the girls bring ideas and plans.  Everything is on the table--field trips, events, guests, let's hear what the girls want to do and are willing to make happen!

Girl Scouts: Anyone interested in the Raingutter Regatta?

Hi everyone,

The Raingutter Regatta is coming up Wednesday November 28th.  I figured the girls could help again, OR, if they wanted, they could build and run boats too.  If they're interested, I have to get the boats right away though, so let me know ASAP!

Is anyone interested?

Also:  Milwaukee Wave Scout Night 1/26, anyone interested there?  The movie afterwards will be Beauty and the Beast.  The Wave's been playing a lot of great soccer, and the games are super fun to watch even if you're not generally a soccer fan.  I don't know if we would stay overnight again this year, unless the girls really want to.  (If they want to, then sure--it's their troop!  But otherwise, I think the game and the movie are probably a solid night.)

Thanks,

Aleks
