Girl Scouts: One more Girl Scout opportunity--Basketball!

Hi again everyone!

Based on how many scouts I see at basketball practice, I thought some of you might be interested in this:

UWM Panther Women's Basketball Girl Scout Game

$5 gets a ticket, hot dog, soda, patch, and you're invited to participate in a post-game clinic too!

The game is Saturday December 31st at 2:00 PM at the Klotsche Center on the UWM Campus.

I can't go, but if anyone wants to, I can sign us up as a troop so you get the patch and hot dogs and sodas.  Sign up here and I'll have the tickets set up at Will Call under one of your names and the troop number. (We'll decide whose name as the event gets closer and I know who's going.)

The game is against Northern Kentucky and if any of you follow Women's College Basketball, it should be a good game.  UWM has a great women's team this year (they just beat UW 88-63!) and two players were just honored as Horizon League players of the week.

I think that's all for tonight!  See you soon!

Girl Scouts: December Meeting!

Hello Scouts!

Time for our last meeting of 2016!  Plan on fun!

We'll get our Sports and Fitness patches for the work we've done the last few months, and do some holiday themed activities to wrap up the year.

Sign up for your choice here:

Also:  everyone interested in the Washington DC trip (scouts and parents) keep one of the dates 12/13 OR 12/20 open in the evening.  Girl Scouts has a million and one things that have to be done to approve the trip, and we'll try to knock out a solid 500,000 of them on those two dates.  Every scout and every parent interested in going needs to attend one of those two dates.  We'll have more information there and then too.   I have the Highland View Library listed as the meeting location.  I dropped the reservation request off today, and it should be available.  If it's not, I'll let everyone know changes of location.

Sign up for the one you want here:

Anyone get an extra Chromebook after the meeting today?

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to check and try to help track down one of our scout's Chromebooks.  If your scout came home with two by accident, let me know and I'll pass word along to help set some nerves at ease.

Thanks!

Girl Scouts: College Park Attendance Wednesday and December Nursing Home Visit Reminder

Hi!

Here's who I have signed up for our meeting at College Park tomorrow (Sign up here if you still plan on attending) :

Jesialis Perez
Hannah Schlicht
Ashlee Fronek
Maya Hartman
Bryn Richards
Bailee Anders
Madison Meunier
Megha Murali
Dea Sula
Sophia Vossekuil

Also, pickup will be different this month.  I got this from the office, so we'll have to meet you at entrance 10 at 5:00 tomorrow:

"Good Afternoon,

As of 11/2/16 all groups need to walk students to Door 10 and dismiss from that door when your activity ends.  Door 10 will be locked and parents/guardians will not be able to walk in to meet students.

Thank you,
Julie Morrell"

Finally, there aren't a whole lot of you signed up for the Nursing Home visits in December.  I really do recommend it.  The girls and the residents both get so much from the visits.

See you Wednesday!

Girl Scouts: Meeting Recap and More Nursing Home Dates!

Hi everyone!

We had a lot of fun today.

We split our time between our Sports and Fitness Patch activity and a Thanksgiving craft.  For our badgework the girls got a chance to do some teaching and learning.  Since many of the girls in our group do some sort of extracurricular activity (dance, cheer, poms, soccer, volleyball, basketball, etc.) we split them into groups and gave the girls a chance to "coach" other girls and teach some of their skills.  The girls learned about what makes teaching easier and what makes learning easier, and how they can apply that to the rest of their lives too.

We made pumpkin/candle centerpeices for Thanksgiving as bit of a holiday craft.  Feel free to decorate those pumpkins with more sequins and pins at home--I bet some of the girls will get them to sparkle!

On a different note, as usual our visit to the Elizabeth residence was a good one both for the girls and for the residents there.  I love that tradition in our troop because everyone gets something out of it.

We now have 3 more dates arranged, December 15, 19, and 20.  Sign up here to pick one!

Finally, the Raingutter Regatta is next week Friday.  I hope those boats are coming along well!  See you there!

Girl Scouts: Nursing Home Visit Friday (Tomorrow!)

Hi,

Just a reminder that we have the first of our Nursing Home visits tomorrow (Friday 11/4) 6:00-7:30PM.

There'll be 6 of us there so far, and it looks like we're good on rides--Bonnie, we'd be happy to bring Portia, we can coordinate on arrangements tonight if you want!

It's a rewarding night for the elderly folks living at the Elizabeth Residence, and for the girls helping them out.  If anyone else wants to go, let me know.  And if you need a ride there's space in the van!

Girl Scouts: 50% of this is SUPER IMPORTANT

Hi everyone!

A couple quick things:

#1)  DO NOT JUST SHOW UP TO THE MEETING TOMORROW!  Only one scout was signed up in addition to Ms. Kelly and I, so we're going to call that meeting off.  No one will be there!

#2)  I have Raingutter Regatta kits in hand.  I'll be sending them home through school tomorrow.  SO if your scout's name is:
Kendra P.
Evie S.
Quinn S.
Aria K.
Megha M.
Lia S.
Ellen W.
Kahlen W.
Lauren P.
Ali D.
Hannah P.
Expect a boat kit to come home.

Decorate it well, because just like last year we'll have a "People's Choice" award in addition to the race awards.

Happy Scouting! See you soon one way or another!
