Girl Scouts: Reminder--Cookie Kick Off Party January 4th!

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year!

Just a reminder that our troop is hosting the Greendale Cookie Kick Off Party at GMS on Friday January 4th from 6:30-8:00.  Around 100 Girl Scouts from local troops will be there to play games, answer questions, sing songs, and have fun.

Our girls are welcome to join in and play too, and at our age, it would also be great if they could help out at some of the games/areas too.

Happy Scouting!  See you Friday!

Girl Scouts: Meeting tomorrow and an AWESOME sounding event!

Hi everyone,

Just a quick reminder that there's a meeting after school tomorrow, until 5:00.

Please check the supplies page to make sure we'll have everything we need, and make sure everyone brings a coffee mug (not for coffee!)  We'l bring microwaves, and utensils/etc. so that's all set.

Also, I don't know if you get the emails from Girl Scouts that I get, but I got one yesterday that had an event listed that sounded AWESOME!

Here's the description:

Adventure Race Overnight
February 8-9 / February 9-10
Cost: $45
Gear up! Girls can give Adventure Racing a try. They will trek through the snow at Camp Silver Brook using a map and compass to go from checkpoint to checkpoint. Then they will throw on a pair of snow shoes (weather permitting) or use their boots to cross Lucas Lake, no boats needed. They will have a blast finding all the checkpoints. Finally, they will enjoy tubing at Sunburst ski hill in the evening! (Camp Silver Brook, West Bend)

There's a school dance on the 8th (I think) so the girls would probably have to do the 9-10th which goes from 9:00 AM Saturday to 9:00 AM Sunday.

Who's in?  It sounds super cool, and I know Evie's always looking for an excuse to go tubing!  We could provide rides.  (We'd be sure to be back quick on Sunday, since our schedule looks like it's got a ton going on that day!)

As always since kindergarten, if the $45 cost would be prohibitive, just let me know and the troop can cover the cost.

Girl Scouts: Great organizers, and leaders! (Info about next week.)

Hi everyone!

Our experiment with being a fully Girl-Organized, and Girl-Led group is going AWESOME!  These girls can get things done!

We actually had three jobs today: planning our next meeting, planning our booth at February's International Fair, and planning our booth at the Community Coalition's Health Fair at the end of January, and the girls were great.

For now, we'll focus on the meeting next week.  The girls came up with a three part plan:  Holiday Yoga (led by Eva K.), Making Dog Treats for dogs in foster care and for dogs of people we know (Led by Quinn and Katie) , and making Rice Krispie treats for ourselves (Led by Teagan and Kendra).

They developed plans to run each segment, and also lists of supplies they need, and asked me to put together a sign up page so everyone can help bring what's needed.  (As always, if you want, I can write a troop check at the meeting to cover expenses if you bring or send a receipt.)

Here's that page:

Also:  EVERYONE NEEDS TO BRING A COFFEE MUG!

Finally, here are dates for four non-meeting events our troop is participating in during upcoming months:

#1)  Cookie Kick Off Party @ GMS 6:30-8:00 January 4th --Girls can volunteer to run a station and will also get a chance to play at the party too.  We expect one hundred or so Girl Scouts from Greendale to join us!  This is the biggest Girl Scout event in Greendale and it's all up to us.  Let's keep this party rolling!

#2)  Greendale Community Coalition Health and Drug Avoidance Fair @ GHS 1/30/2019 --Like last year, we were invited to have a booth at the event highlighting healthy living and ways Girl Scouts can provide safe and healthy life opportunities.  The girls decided they're going to make a health trivia game for the event.  We'll work on details at the January meeting, and at a separate working party if that's needed.

#3)  Green Corners Service Area International Fair at Whitnall High School 2/16 2:00-3:30 --Similar to last years, our troop will be representing a country at the Green Corners Girl Scout International Fair.  We were SUPER lucky this year and got FRANCE!  (Last year we were China if that helps as a reminder about the event) The girls came up with some great ideas for our booth (Our SWAP will be polyclay baguettes, we'll have a cheese assortment for sampling, and will have bocce ball, coloring pages, and French hopscotch activities for kids to do.)  Also like last year, we will schedule an International Fair Work-Party as the event gets closer; and yes, there will be crepes!

#4)  Greendale Family Fitness Day 2/10 12:00-3:00 @ GHS --Last year our troop shared its "Make Your Own Game" activity in the wrestling room of GHS.  KIDS LOVED IT (Really!  We got the best reviews outside of swimming.)  So we were invited back again this year.  This is an amazing opportunity to volunteer and make a positive change in the community.  IMPORTANT:  I would need two adults to run the show at this event though, since Evie has a different ceremony that ur family has to go to.  Please?

If you can get those into the calendar now, that would be great.  I am so proud of how the girls got their ideas organized today.  Great job Scouts!  See you next week!

Girl Scouts: Bring ideas!!!

Last reminder that tomorrow (Wednesday) is our planning meeting day. Remember that meeting is shorter than the main meeting too, only until 4:30 instead of 5.

Come with ideas--the girls can make anything happen!

Girl Scouts: Planning meeting next Wednesday!

Hi everyone,

Just a reminder that our December planning meeting is 12/12 and our meeting-meeting is 12/19.

As always, I'll bring the snacks, girls bring the ideas!

I also have some good news for the girls about this year's International Fair, so that'll be a great surprise too.
