Girl Scouts: Reminders for scouts meeting tomorrow (10/1) at College Park

Hi!

Just a couple reminders for the scouts meeting tomorrow at College Park:

1)  If you won't be meeting your scout after school, make sure your scouts teacher knows she's coming!  I'll leave information with the office with who's signed up for scouts, but I'd hate for a teacher to put a girl on a bus home when they're supposed to be going to scouts!

2)  The same thing applies to bridges.  If your scout was signed up for bridges, they'll get worried if she doesn't show up.  SO if you can let bridges know she's not coming, that would be great!

3)  We're meeting in the International Room, in case anyone forgot.  If you're coming over from another school, then the office should be able to point you in the right direction.

4)  Mrs. Pintar will have the girls work on a service project while I carpool girls over from Highland View.  Please make sure your scouts are on their best behavior for her!

See you there!

Girl Scouts: Last minute, but I hope someone can help!

Hello families!

The Highland View Girl Scout information/recruitment night is tomorrow, from 6-8PM, in the library, and iit would be GREAT if we had some of our scouts there to help, or to tell other girls who are interested in scouting about the things they've done.

It can be anyone, 4th or 5th grade, from any school.  I don't need parents to stick around, but as always, you're welcome to if you want to!

Please?  It'll be a great opportunity for your scout to be a leader to the younger scouts (since now they're the big kids in school) and OF COURSE there's a patch involved.

Thanks in advance--

Aleks

Girl Scouts: Anyone else for the Highland View meeting tomorrow?

Last call for the Highland View meeting tomorrow!

As usual it's in Mrs. Bushman's room after school until 5:30.

Or email me,
Or leave a note in your student's agenda,
Or send a note to school with your student for their teacher to know where they're going after school

There'll still be the third September meeting (wildly misplaced on October 1st) so you're not done yet.  But The meeting on the 1st is almost full, so if you wait much longer we won't be able to fit your scout in without an extra parent helper.

We're doing a lot this meeting including:

Working on a service project for Meals on Wheels,
Picking up patches for summer activities,
Picking out which badge we want to work on first,
Learning the Girl Scout lanyard-braiding tradition,
Getting information for the fall nut/candy sale from Girl Scouts.

Thanks!  See you soon!

Girl Scouts: Great Weekend! And meeting dates!

Hello everyone!

What a great weekend!  The campout went well, and I really need to super thank the parents who gave rides and spent their days (and nights) with us making this a success.  You are amazing!

I have a couple lost and found items that were left behind, so let me know if your scout didn't come home with something and I'll check and see if I have it and we can coordinate a way to get it back to you.

Now, the moment you've all been waiting for.  Thanks to Mrs. Pintar (Thanks!) we can have a meeting at College Park on a regular basis, so you'll see those dates marked on the schedule below too.  If you've seen preview dates, double check this list, because the Spanish room at College Park was only available certain days and things kept changing right up until this last minute.

If you're a College Park family and see Mrs. Pintar make sure to tell her so much thanks!  (Also, if you offered to help, but the dates didn't work out: Thank you too!  In this case the thought definitely counted!)

Here's how this will work:  Just like last year, each month we'll have multiple copies of the same meeting.  There will be 3 meetings each month, but each scout only should pick one of them to go to, since they'll all be the same.  You don't have to pick the same one every month, if you want to mix up which girls your scout is seeing.  Just like always, scouts can pick any of the meetings regardless of their own "home" school.  So HV students could sign up for the meeting at CP, and CP students could sign up for a meeting at HV.

Also, if you're a College Park family, keep in mind there will only be spots for 15 scouts at each meeting until I get extra parents signed up to help at that meeting.  So, if you want to lock in a spot on a sign up list for the College Park meeting date, either sign up as soon as you can, or, if you get to the list when it's full, find a parent to help out at the meeting so I can open it up to more scouts.

Finally, the first HV meeting is scheduled to be on the 17th (this Thursday!) which, in the middle of scheduling and campout prepping, totally snuck up!  I've created a sign up sheet here so you can get in on it right way.  The first October meeting at College Park (10/1) will be the College Park edition of our September meeting.

Everyone can sign up for a September meeting right this moment, here:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A4FA5AD22A13-september2  Remember to also write your meeting date in your student's agenda so there are no questions at school!

Here you go:
September:  17, 23 @ Highland View

October:  15, 21 @ Highland View
        1, 22 @ College Park

November:  18, 19 @ Highland View
        12 @ College Park

        3 @ College Park

Girl Scout Campers: What we're doing on Saturday

Hi!

Since a couple campers have younger or older sisters camping out too, and might want to coordinate, here's our Saturday schedule for your enjoyment.  We're divided into 2 groups since there are so many of us.  But both groups are doing the same things just at slightly different times.  Also, if you're driving your camper home Saturday and want to hang out a little longer for dinner or smores, that's A-OK too.  You can leave as late as you like.  (In fact, if you make a last minute decision to stay over with your camper, there's room for another parent or two and the accompanying scouts Saturday night! )

Group 1 Saturday Schedule (13 Scouts + 3-4 adults)

9:30 AM  Opening ceremony @ flagpole by games field
10:00 Field games @ games field
11:00 Camp craft
12:00 Lunch
1:00 Archery
2:00 Swimming/beach fun
3:00 Tie dye (Sandy Point)
4:00 All camp game at the sports field
4:45 Closing ceremony
5:30 Dinner (for those sticking around)

Group 2 Saturday Schedule (13 Scouts + 3-4 adults)
9:30 AM Opening ceremony @ flagpole
10:00 Camp craft
11:00 Field games
12:00 Lunch
1:00 Swimming
2:00 Archery
3:00 Tie dye
4:00 All camp game at the sports field
4:45 Closing ceremony
5:30 Dinner (for those sticking around)

After dinner:  Smores/campfire
After that to our cabin for a walk around the lake, and a movie/popcorn before bed.

See you tomorrow!

Girl Scouts: Campout timelines and locations

Hello everyone!

Just a few quick timelines and locations:

1)  If you're driving to camp Friday, try to arrive at Silverbrook betweeen 5:00 and 5:15.  We're staying in the Sandy Point building.  I'm scanning in a map to include so you can find the building once we're at camp.  If all goes well, I'll be there already.  (If all doesn't go well, then I will be on my way!)

2)  If you're meeting us at camp Saturday morning, we'll be waiting for you by JoAnn Mann lodge, which is the main building for the campground, not the one we're staying at.  Look for us on the grassy area south of the lodge.  Please be there as close to 9:00 as possible!

3)  My cell phone number is in your email if you need to reach me.  After 8:30PM or so Friday night, Kathleen should also be at camp and her number is also in your email .  Reception isn't always the greatest so try both of us if you can't reach on your first try.

4)  If you're riding up with me Friday night in our van, please be at my house at 4:00 (or before) so we can get to Silverbrook on time.  I'd like to leave basically at 4:00 if possible.  (That's Esabella K.  Olivia Kaltenbach, Adrhia, and Makenzie)

5)  We're planning to leave camp at 10:00 on Sunday.  So if your scout is slated to ride back with Kathleen or I, expect us back in Greendale around 11:00.  Things do tend to get complicated though, so we may be a bit late.  If things look to be late I'll call to make sure you know.

6) Make sure to send/bring any medications or emergency supplies we hopefully won't have to use.  (Epi pens, etc.)

7)  Have fun!  The packing list, and camp rules are here on the website too if you don't want to go back through your email.

See you tomorrow,

Aleks

Toothbrush/toothpaste,
Hairbrush,

4)  Rides List
OK, here's the cars going to camp, and who I'm expecting to stick around.  If I've got something wrong, let me know!  Also, there are a lot of separate cars going up Saturday morning.  If you were going to drive your scout up, but weren't planning to stick around during the day, we could probably give you 3 hours of your life back if your able to let your scout ride up with someone else.  (It's a 45 minute drive each way to Silverbrook, so driving 1.5 hours to drop your scout off, then another 1.5 hours of total travel to pick her up  might be a bit boring!)

Girl Scouts: Preliminary Schedule (Events, but not yet meeting dates.)

Hello everyone!

OK, after a lot of ideas from you, and keeping some troop traditions in place, how does this sound for the events for the year?  (It's also up on our website at:  http://greendaledaisies.blogspot.com/p/2015-2016-schedule.html )

Notes:
I tried to set t up so there was at least one event each month and one meeting, but as you can see, sometimes there were too many to pass up!

If you know of other events that fit in, this schedule is not set in stone and I'm always looking for new and fun opportunities for the girls, so just pass word along.  I feel like I've forgotten some suggestions folks have made over the years, so if you don't see something you told me about, please re-tell me and we'll figure out how to make it happen.

Also, there are a couple different overnight events.  There's no need to go to all of them.  I had hoped they would be different enough that a girl could do all of them if she wanted, but also so that girls with different interests could all find something that would "fit."

Remember:
1)  All events are optional
2)  If the fee would cause you to be unable to attend an event, just let me know and the troop will cover it with no questions asked or tales told.  We want everyone to have all the great experiences they can.
3)  Please give me a list of what events you want to go to ASAP and try to block those out on your calendar too.  If you HAVE to cancel, please let me know as far ahead of time as you can so I can hopefully try to find someone to take your place. (Or, better yet, find someone to take your spot and save me the work and worry!)

Meetings will be help in Room 103 (Mrs Bushman's room) at Highland View from after school until 5:00.  UNLESS I CAN FIND A PARENT AT COLLEGE PARK TO HANDLE SETTING UP THE MEETING ROOM FROM 3:30-3:45 UNTIL I CAN GET OVER THERE

Almost finally--note the September 20th UWM Women's soccer game event--if you're interested, let me know RIGHT AWAY!  I got the email from UWM about it today, but in order to get our tickets and patches, I have to get our numbers in ASAP.

And finally finally, meeting dates are ALMOST set.  I'll get that info out when I have a confirmation of the room reservations.

Girl Scouts: P.S. The tie-dye pattern attachment!

Here's that attachment!  Sorry for the double email!

Aleks

Girl Scouts: Campout T-Shirts coming home, Tie-Dye Tying instructions included

Hello everyone!

This email's mainly for the campers.  BUT, everyone keep an eye open for the email tomorrow with a proposed schedule for the year.  I almost have it hammered out.  (At the moment, we aren't able to have a regular meeting at College Park, but I'm willing to change if there's anyone who's been holding out on being able to set the meeting room up once a month and check the CP attendance and get the girls working from 3:30-3:45 between when school lets out and I can get over there....)

OK, on to the camper info:

If you weren't able to make the pre-tying night last Friday, and I still have your campout t-shirt, I'll be sending the College Park and Highland View t-shirts home through school on Thursday and Friday.  I'm also including a .ppt file with some instruction choices if the girls want to do patterns with their shirts.

If your scout is not from Highland View or College Park, get in touch with me about getting your t-shirt to you.  (If you're going to camp Friday night, you could even just pre-tie it that evening too, so no worries!)

Aleks
