Hi everyone!
Just a couple bits of great news for everyone.
#1) Mr. Lodes at GHS is excited to share any letters we write with students who might get stuck in quarantine. He has to keep those names secret, so we won't know who got them, but he's sure kids that get them will be cheered up. Sooooooo, when you can, drop any letters you can (handwritten, decorated if you want) at our house and when I have a good pile, I'll drop them off. The letters might end up with kids from any age, since it sounds like they'll ultimately be going through either the school nurse or the Greendale Health Department, who are allowed to know the names of who's quarantined.
If you're not sure what to write, here's a good example, and as mentioned, if you're an artist, uplifting/inspiring decoration sure wouldn't hurt:
Example:
"Hi!
I know quarantine is boring, but I just wanted you to know that we'll be here when you get back. While you are stuck inside, just remember, you are perfect, you are strong, and at the end, everyone will be here when you get back. Some things you can do while quarantined: decorate for the holidays, make a puzzle, call friends, binge watch your favorite movies, or get some indoor exercise. I believe in you. You can get through this, and we'll be there for you.
Your friends from school."
#2) Thanks to Eva (Thanks!!) Mrs. Burish was able to give us the names of some seniors who had requested fall clean up help this year, but who didn't get it because GMS didn't do Clean and Green. I know it looks like snow on Saturday, but it ought to be gone by the weekend after (12/19-20). If we called a couple of those folks and asked if they still needed anything taken care of, who would be available the weekend of 12/19-20 to do some community helping?
#3) It sounds like people enjoyed the online girl scout cooking class for Thanksgiving, would you be interested in doing it again? I know Eva was interested in teaching us something, but was busy that day. If we want to do that again, we could pick another day and have another online hangout? (Thanks to Katie we might even have a better online meeting tool to use next time!)
Happy holidays! Stay warm and safe,
Aleks
